Danny Raskin's LISTENING 0 S T 111 Symphony to Perform Bloch Service Ernest Bloch's "Sacred Serv- ice," the first large-scale choral- orchestral work written for the synagogue by a major composer, will be performed 8:30 p.m. Sat- uraday by the Detroit Symphony Orchestra in Ford Auditorium. Leslie Guinn, baritone, and the Rackham Symphony Choir will join the orches- tra, under Sixten Ehrling's direc- tion. On Thursday evening, Ehrling also led the or- 1880 and died in Portland, Ore., in 1959. Leslie Guinn, who is making his first appearance with the Detroit Symphony, has performed in op- era and in concert at the Brevard, Chatauqua and Marlboro music festivals and with many U.S. or- chestras.
