Glueck Lecture
Included in Class
on Archaeology

The adventures of archaeology
will be reviewed this fall in an
illustrated lecture series, "Lost
Cities of the Ancient World,"
offered by the University Center
for Adult Education starting at
the Detroit Institute of Arts.
Noted archaeologist Dr. Nelson
Glueck, will deliver the Oct. 9
lecture related to the Art Insti-
tute's exhibition. Tickets will be
available for this lecture, "Masada
and Palestinian Archaeology."
- The largest archaeological ex-
hibition to travel in the country,
the five-gallery exhibition opens
Oct. 4. Among the displays will
be a dramatic portrayal of the
heroic struggle that took place
in 73 A.D. when a band of 960
Jewish Zealots refused to sur-
render at Masada to the 10th
Roman Legion. Archeological
findings will depict the lives of
the Zealots as well as elaborate
details of the ancient mountain
fortress in Judea that was built
by Herod the Great. .
Also on exhibit will be the arti-
facts uncovered by the 5,000 volun-
teers of the 1963-65 Israeli expedi-
tions to the Holy Land.
Among the 200 courses offered
this fall by the University Center
is "Ideas That Have Changed Man-
kind" at the Jewish Center with
Dr. Milton Covensky.
Persons may register at UCAE
offices, Rackham Education Me-
morial, 60 Farnsworth.
