Morris Brotsky, 52, Killed in Accident. Morris Brotsky, a World War II Army veteran and a mailman for 12 years, was killed in an automo- bile accident Sept. 10 while on his way to work. Mr. Brotsky, 52, was driving west on Eight Mile Rd. near Southfield Rd., when a car traveling the wrong way collided , with his. The driver of the other car was killed instantly. Mr. Brotsky died later in the hospital. A native Detroiter, Mr. Brotsky attended Young Israel of Oak- Woods. Surviving are his wife, Esther; a son, Steven; a daughter, Elaine; and two sisters, Mrs. Meyer (Ra- chel) Raimi and Lena of San Francisco. Rabbi Jacob Kohn, 86; Los Angeles Educator LOS ANGELES (JTA) — Rabbi Jacob Kohn, noted Conservative rabbi and educator, died here Sept. 10 at age 86. Dr. Kohn had been rabbi of Sinai Temple for 25 years before retiring in 1957. He was the author of many books on philosophy and Judaism and had served as dean of the Graduate School of the Uni- versity of Judaism here. He had lectured on Judaism at Teachers College, Columbia University and served on the faculty of the Uni- versity of South Carolina. He had been vice president of the United Synagogue of America, the association of Conservative congregations, and a member of the executive council of the Rab- binical Assembly, the association of Conservative rabbis. Seymour Baskin, 38; Owned Pharmacy Seymour Baskin, owner and founder of Kelley Discount Drugs, Kelley and Nine Mile Rds., East Detroit, died Wednesday. He was 38. Mr. Baskin, 29575 Fairfax, Southfield, was a native of De- troit and a graduate of the Wayne State University college of pharm- acy. Survivors are his wife, Ruth; three sons, Stuart, Mark and Ken- neth; a daughter, Nancy; his moth- er, Mrs. Mary Baskin; and a brother, Dr. Sidney. Judge Nathaniel Kaplan; Worked Will Children NEW YORK — Judge Nathaniel Kaplan of the State Family Court, who was chairman of the New York City Youth Board for 19 years died Sept. 13 at age 69. Judge Kaplan, who was born in Lithuania, was graduated from Columbia University and, earning his way through night school, earned a degree from Brooklyn Law School. He was active in the Jewish War Veterans and a leader in the Big Brother movement. He held many honors for his work with children.
