Softball Team Wins
OP Championship Again

The four-year-old Mertz Bake
Shoppe softball team, nicknamed
"the Cookies," has won its fourth
consecutive Oak Park League
championship and its second con-
secutive Detroit Class B champion-
ship.
The Cookies, sponsored by Oak
Park baker Leo Mertz, consists of
\ ,..5,
ix school teachers, an electrical
engineer, a psychologist, two aspir-
ing advertising men, one consultant
and two college students.

Sidney Spitz Appointed
to Rehabilitation Body

Wayne County Supervisor Sid-
ney Spitz was appointed to
the Mayor's Rehahilitation Com-
mittee on Skid Row Problems by
Mayor Jerome P. Cavanagh.
As a county supervisor, Spitz is
now serving his second term of
office on the taxation and appor-
tionment committee, roads and
bridges committee, select commit-
tee on human relations and is vice
chairman of the port committee for
Wayne County.

Marilyn Nussbaum, 18, 25847 Woodvilla, Southfield, and Carol
Duchan, 17, 24601 Harding, Oak Park, have enrolled as freshmen
at Yeshiva University's Stern College for Women, New York City.
Marilyn, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Sol Nussbaum, is a graduate
of Ford High School. Carol, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Milton
Duchan, is a graduate of Mumford High SchooL
The Chaim Weizmann Society recently honored Joshua Joyrich
on the occasion of his graduation from the Midrasha, College of Jewish
Studies. President Joseph Newmark gave him a Jewish National
Fund certificate for four trees in IsraeL Also honored that evening
were Messrs. and Mesdames Sam Cherry and Harry Levine on the
occasion of their 56th and 53rd anniversaries, respectively.
Out-of-town guests at the recent Bar Mitzva of Michael Jay Seltzer,
son of Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Carl Seltzer of Burgess Ave., were his
grandmother, Mrs. Adella Seltzer, and Mr. and Mrs. L Seltzer, of
Houston; Mr. Ben Solomon of Miami Beach; Mr. and Mrs. L Kramer
and family of Pittsburgh; and Mr. and Mrs. Carl Linden of Shaker
Heights,

Foon, out-of-town guests were Mr. and Mrs. Irwin Levine of Evanston,
