Dinitz, a lead-
ing member, of
Israel's diploma-
Dinitz tic corps, has been
a career officer in Israel's ministry
for foreign affairs since 1951. From
1966 until his appointment to the
post in Washington this year, he
was minister plenipotentiary to
Italy. For three years, he served
as a member of the Israel delega- '
tion to the UN.
He was attached to the depart-
ment of information at the Israel
Embassy in Washington for seven
years and in 1958 returned to Israel
as assistant to the director of the
department of information in the
ministry of foreign affairs. He then
served as deputy director and di-
rector of the office of the director
general of the ministry for foreign
affairs.
Dinitz was born in 1929 in Tel
Aviv. After serving in the War of
Independence, he came to the
United States to study at the Uni-

versity of Cincinnati and George- I
town University, where he received

his BS and master's degrees, spe-
cializing in international law.
Capital for Israel, Inc:, was
created to mobilize additional re-
sources for the industrial develop-
ment of Israel.

as captain of Israel's water polo
