Compulsory Insurance
Planned for Israelis

(Direct JTA Teletype Wire
to The Jewish News)

JERUSALEM — Labor Minister
Yosef Almogi announced Monday
night that Israelis are to have
compulsory national health insur-
ance.
He told a meeting of the Na-
tional Insurance Council here that
the decision, by a ministerial com-
mittee, will be binding on the gov-
ernment unless a cabinet minister
appeals against it within two
weeks.
Almogi said that the health insur-
ance will be based on existing sick
funds which will be ordered to
waive restrictions based on health,
age or financial position. He said
that the government will cover
monthly payments for persons who
cannot afford them.
The council meanwhile decided
that all widows in Israel will be
entitled to free vocational training.
During the training period, they
will receive financial grants pro-
portionate to the size of their
families, the council said.

Harry Thomas
Fights With
His Wife

Harry Thomas, well known clothier
was found in a daze in his store at
15200 W. 7 Mile at Sussex.

"What are you doing in such a daze?' Mt.
Thomas was asked.
"I've just had a big fight," he said, "but Harry
Thomas isn't 'licked yet.'
Fighting? We were amazed . . . why Harry
Thomas wouldn't harm a fly.
"The Tigers are fighting for first place," he said
dejectedly. "Detroit Lions are fighting for a good
position . . . and Harry Thomas fights with his wife."
"But, why," we asked, "you've always been such
an agreeable couple."
"PRICES, PRICES ... Harry Thomas fights with
his wife over prices," he moaned. "My wife comes
down to my store and sees all the new clothes that
just came in ... She raves about their styling ... their
quality, but when she sees the low price tags, she hits
the ceiling. She thinks I ought to charge as much as
other stores get for them."
"Oh," we said, "so that's it."
"That's plenty," Harry said. "I built my business
on value ... and Harry Thomas sticks to his low-price
policy. PRICES," he groaned, "and she's such a sweet
wife, too.
You'll just have to go over and see the swell
clothes Harry Thomas has at 15200 W. 7 Mile at
Sussex . . . to ease your clothing expense ... and ease
his conscience.
