The Furniture Club was the
scene recently of a surprise 25th
anniversary party for Lorraine and
Bob Stahl the parents of three
children Lorraine was decrying
but not complaining the fact that
both Allen and Sandy would be out
of town on the anniversary day —
and THEN came the surprise party
. .. while the honorees were prop-
erly shocked and pleasantly
amazed the biggest surprise came
when lately-Bar Mitzvahed Stew-
art, the youngest of the three, was
able to keep the affair a secret.
Look and talk-alikes: barrister
Milt and dentist Bill Huber look
and talk so much alike it is amaz-
ing . . . Although they are not
twins the brothers Huber can
really cause a jam or two . .. On
one occasion a very close friend
started a conversation with Bill,
excused himself and came back a
few minutes later to resume the
conversation . . from that point
on nothing — but nothing — made
sense until the. acquaintance said,
"What's the matter with you,
Bill?" With that Huber started to
laugh, which, of course, made it
all the more confusing until he
said, "I'm Milt."
Reuben Snider and wife Marge
were kind enough one December
day to give a co-employe a ride
home also in the ear was son
Lloyd, reaching the friend's desti-
nation everybody wished each
other well and Lloyd chipped in
with, "And have a Merry Christ-
mas": . . . Thanking him the friend
said, "You mean Happy Hanuka,
don't you?" •. . . "Oh," said Lloyd,
"I didn't know you were one of
us."
While visiting a merchant friend
of mine one day, it was so warm
in his tailoring establishment that
I took my coat off and hung it on
a hanger . . . although we were
shut off from the retail trade by
an opaque glass which reached
half-way to the ceiling the hanging
coat was visible from the front .. .
A customer had come in and was
properly greeted by the girl in
back of the counter but no re-
sponse was forthcoming so both
my friend and I went out in front
to see what was the matter . . . It
seems a very gentle breeze was
blowing in from the outside and
had caused my coat to swing ever
so gently back and forth — back
and forth — and when I looked at
the spot where the customer was
gazing, it was directly at the lapel
of my coat where firmly entrench-
ed was a hypnotic disc . . . without
too much ado everything was back
to normal, but no longer do I wear
a lapel hypnotic disc.
Max N. Haidy. who recently cele-
brated his 25th anniversary • with
Brown and Bigelow, was the recipi-
ent of a hand-written letter from
the president of the firm com-
mending Max on his consciencious-
ness, and the esteem in which he
is held in the company . . . Max
felt so elated, he told me the story
of the messenger ,boy who burst
in on the male head of the harem
and inquired, "I've got a Mother's
Day greeting here, who gets it?"
