Robert Syme will con- tinue to serve in the Torch Drive leadership post to which he was appointed last year. Rabbi Syme has been reappoint- ed to the inter-faith committee for the 20th annual United Foundation campaign. He was renamed by the Torch Drive promotional materials group chairman, Joseph R Neall, senior vice president of Ross Roy Inc. The inter-faith committee is one of six working under Neall's direc- tion for the drive scheduled Oct. 15-Nov. 7. Continuing as chairman of the committee will be the Very Rev- Msgr. Wilbur F. Suedkamp, di- rector of charities, Archdiocese of Detroit. Sister Edward Eileen, the first Roman Catholic nun to attend Sinai Hospital's Shapero School of Nursing since the school opened in 1956, will be among 43 stu- dents to graduate Thursday. Sister Edward Eileen, of t h e Adrian Domini- can Order, was born in Blue Is- land, Ill. and was graduated from Siena Heights College in Adri- an. Since 1952, Sister she has been Edward Eileen teaching in the Detroit area, most recently at St. Theresa High School. She also took graduate courses at the Catholic University in Washington, D.C. working to- wards her masters degree, before starting her nursing studies. Nine years ago, Sister Edward Eileen became aware of the nursing shortage while caring for the sisters at her mother house infirmary in Adrian. But, at this time, there was a critical I need for teaching sisters. Last year she received permission to enter a nursing school. Shapero School was recommended, and Sister Edward Eileen enrolled. in the September 1967 class. Being the first nun to work at Sinai, Sister Edward Eileen re- ceived a variety of comments from the patients, some of whom thought she was an exchange stu- dent from Mt. Carmel Hospital, located in the same area. At first, she said, the other students felt a little strange around her, but in a short time she became "one of the girls." During her year at the school, she resided at the Precious Blood Convent. After graduation, Sister Edward Eileen will begin her nursing du- ties at the St. Theresa Home for the Aged in Cincinnati. 3 WSU Delegates to Israel Parley •• ■ .0 ■ MIND .111 ■ .1•1). ■ 0111• ■ 0.1=410110 041//.0.111M0.13 MIN.1)411111114) ■ 17.11.11.00111110 0 .1 ■■ t■-■ 0•1■ 0.111.
