Seminary V-P Due at Flint Reception

Dr. Simon Greenberg, vice chan-
cellor and vice president of facul-
ties of The Jewish Theological
Seminary of America, will address
a reception sponsored by leaders
of Flint's Beth Israel Congrega-
tion 4 p.m. Sept. 15 at the home
of their president, Murray Moss.

Dr. Greenberg was rabbi of Phil-
adelphia's Har Zion Temple for
21 years. Executive director of the
United Synagogue of America
from 1950 to 1953, he later served
as president of the seminary's
West Coast branch. He also is a
past president of the Rabbinical
Assembly of America.
Dr. Greenberg is a trustee and
executive committee member of
the Jewish Theological Seminary's
Institute for Religious and Social
Studies, a graduate school con-
ducted with the cooperation of
Catholic, Jewish, and Protestant
scholars. He is the author of "Liv-
ing as a Jew Today," "The Ideals
and Values of the Jewish Prayer
Book," and other works.

Parley in Haifa to Discuss Society and Technology

LONDON — An Anglo-American-
Israeli conference on the social
implications of advanced technol-
ogy is planned for next spring
at the Israel Institute of Tech-
nology, Haifa, it was disclosed
here Tuesday.
Lord Hirshfield, founder and di-
rector of the British Foundation
on Automation and Employment,
will go to Israel Sept. 16 to discuss
arrangements for the conference
with officials of the government
and Histadrut, Israel's labor fed-
eration.

He will be accompanied by Ray
'Gunter, former labor minister,
who is a director of the founda-
tion. The foundation works closely
with a similar organization in the
United States which will partici-
pate in the Haifa conference.

Jewish Community Council. He is
Himie "Hy" Bergman, 37, of
Houston.
Bergman, who has • been assist-
ant executive director of the Jew-
ish Community Council of Metro-
politan Houston since December
1966, succeeds Irving L. Geisser.
The appointment, effective im-
mediately, was announced by
Joseph Megdell, council presi-
dent.
