Mrs. Annette Bechek, JFCS case- worker and consultant to the nurs- ing home visiting teams, will de- scribe the role of the professional in coordinating activity of volun- teers in relation to the needs of specific patients. Kenneth Arnold, administrator of Heritage Nursing Home, will pre- sent the viewpoint of nursing homes and how they feel the resi- dents' needs can be met by the community through a volunteer project oriented to filling gaps in service. Mrs. Jaffe announced that a training manual for nursing home volunteers will be avail- able for distribution at the insti- tute. This manual was author- ed jointly by Mrs. Jack Baroff and Mrs. Norman, Schkloven, members of the JFCS board and nursing home committee. Mrs. Baroff is a professionally trained social worker, formerly on the staff of JFCS, and Mrs. Schklo- ven is a registered nurse and an authority on geriatric nursing.
