From Scandinavia comes a novel
idea—Herring Pudding. Try it and
it may surprise and please you to
find an old favorite in a new dis-
guise. For a side dish we suggest
Spinach and Farfel. Did you know
that a word so thoroughly Jewish
as "farfel" is not really Yiddish
in origin but is derived from the
Italian "faraafeli" — a form of
pasta probably introduced into
Russia and Poland by Jewish
medical students - who, in the late
Middle. Ages, came to Italian uni-
versities — the only ones open to
them in all of Europe.
