The court said the case fell tin- der an amnesty granted in con- nection with the enactment of a new and less stringent law against political offenses. The paper published pictures of Hitler and Israel Defense Minister Moshe Dayan on July 20 last year, under a five-column heading, "Is- rael's Auschwitz in the Desert: the Mass Murder of the Arabs; Dayan in Hitler's Footsteps." The article charged that Israel had erected concentration camps for Arab prisoners from the Six-Day War. Meanwhile, it was reported that the car in which Hitler re- viewed parades, a Mercedes- Benz, has been sold to a German nobleman who does not want his name disclosed. Deutsche Interhandel, a Munich commercial broker, said that the buyer paid $47,500 for the vehicle so that it could not be sold for less in the United States. Inter- handel said the buyer "wanted the car to remain in Germany, possi- bly for nationalistic and emo- tional reasons." Other cars be- longing to Goering, Hitler and von Ribbentrop also are for sale. - TEL AVIV Formal education was of little use to the founders of the kibutz movement some 50 years ago, but there is a need for the university in today's complex kibutz society. This is the conclusion drawn by kibutz pioneer Eliezer Hacohen, 70 a member of Beit Alpha, first ki- butz in Palestine, who has written a paper on the university idea. Hacohen believes that the kibutz university must come into being as soon as possible to cope with changes in the world and in Israel. Only a small percentage of set- tlers now is needed to run the mechanized kibutz, but social, eco- nomic, cultural, educational, or- ganizational a n d administrative 6 problems are much greater than during the early - periods of creat- ing a kibutz. Hacohen points out that 1,150 kibutz members out of an adult population of about 50,000 are either enrolled in Israel's institu- tions of higher learning or taking part-time courses.
