Nixon Known to Be
Friend of Israel

The Republican Presidential can-
didate, Richard Nixon, nominated
Tuesday night on the first ballot in
Miami Beach, has been an avowed
friend of the state of Israel, visit-
ing the country several times.
He has openly discouraged Is-
rael's withdrawal from occupied
territories unless there are prior
direct negotiations between Israel
and her Arab neighbors.

Reports from Poland indicate
that the Jewish State theater may
end its independent status next
year.
The cultural commission of the
Polish Communist Party's central
committee is expected to review
its status soon.
The reports also state that the
head of the theater, the famous
actress Ida Kaminsky, may leave
Poland and settle in New York
where she and her troupe created
a sensation on their appearance
last year.
