Meyer Minkowitz and Leib Schapiro stayed at the home of Rabbi
and Mrs. Jacob Kranz of Kenwood Ave., Oak Park, while they were
taking part in the 20th annual "Jewish Peace Corps" expedition, spon-
sored by the Lubavitcher Hasidic movement. Nearly 100 rabbinical stu-
dents of the Lubavitcher Yeshiva in New York toured hundreds of
Jewish communities throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico and
Latin America, seeking to bolster Tora observance and disseminating
educational literature.
Iota Alpha Pi Sorority's recent national convention in Washing-
ton D.C. was attended by three Wayne State University delegates of
Nu Chapter, Sandy Shapiro, Diane Holtz and Suzi Cohen. Mrs. William
Nadler, a recent Wayne alumna, was elected national vice president.
At the awards luncheon, Nu Chapter was awarded the Gertrude Cohen
Berger Award for the chapter with the greatest social progress for
the past year. Miss Shapiro was awarded the Muriel Goodman Award
for the most active member in the national organization.
A surprise party was given recently at Carl's Chop House honoring
the 75th birthday of Lew Foreman of San Juan Dr. by his children, Mr.
and Mrs. Arthur Foreman and Miss Hannah Foreman. Friends and
relatives from Toledo attended.
Local guests at the recent wedding of Joan Lindenbaum to Michael
Stern in Washington, D.C., were Mr. and Mrs. Morris Wolk, Mr. and
Mrs. Phil Rosenzweig, Linda Rosenzweig and Mr. and Mrs. Erwin
Wolk.
Miss Fran Susan Weiss, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Weiss,
14220 LaBelle, Oak Park, is spending two weeks as the guests of the
Marvin Rothman family of St. Louis.
