Mrs. Karbel will serve as a women's division chairman. Her appointment was announced by Mrs. Eugene J. Arnield, advance gifts chairman for women's teams. Allen has been named a men's division chairman by Burt R. Shurly Jr., vice chairman for men's teams. Vice president and secretary of Allen Industries, Allen has served on the advance gifts committee in previous Torch Drives. The campaign is scheduled for Oct. 15-Nov. 7. DELICATESSEN Reports evaluating the accomp- lishments of Bar-Ilan • University located at Ramat Gan, Israel, will be submitted at the semi-annual meeting of American Women for Bar-Ilan 12:30 p.m. Aug. 12, at Young Israel of Oak-Woods. Mrs. Max Stollman, national presi- dent, -announced that Mrs. Morris Adler will be guest speaker on the topic "Our Hero Patterns." Having participated in recent meetings of the world council of Bar-Ilan University and having helped in plans for recent univer- sity expansion while in Israel, Mrs. Stollm an will outline the attainments of the past year and will report on the plans for the coming year and the rapid growth of the university. The bridegroom's parents are Mr. and Mrs. David Biederman of Telegraph Rd. Rabbi Jacob E. Segal and Can- tor Nicholas Fenakel officiated. Following a honeymoon in New York, the couple is at home in North Kansas City, Mo. The bride wore an A-line gown of peau de soie fashioned with Empire bodice, mandarin neck- line and full chapel-length train appliqued in Guipure lace, seed pearls and crystals. Her mat- ching headpiece of lace and crystals held a bouffant, chapel- length veil of silk illusion. She called her confirmation Bible topped with Phalaenopsis or- chids and roses. Leslie Ann Berman, sister of the bride, was maid of honor. Junior bridesmaid was Judy Kushner. Neil Biederman was his brother's best man. Ushers were Michael and Warren Berman, brothers of the bride, Joel Weisman of Cateret, N.J., Richard Goldfine, Richard Ellenbogen of Des Moines, Sheldon Beck, Daniel Kohen and Arthur Allen. A special auction of philatelic material will be held after the program to help support the society's youth education pro- gram wherein posters and ma- terial will be distributed to schools and educational institu- tions to inform youngsters of the philately of Israel and the Holy Land. _ The past president of the De- troit Chapter, Irvin Girer, 27436 Aberdeen, Southfield, was elected international president of the soci- ety which now includes 33 chap- ters throughout the United States and seven other countries.
