Barbara Schonberger Gets Silverman Award At a meeting of the scholarship committee of the Sgt. Morton A. Silverman Post and Auxiliary, Jewish War Veterans, the annual award was given to Barbara Ann Schonberger, who is enrolled at Oakland Community College. Barbara, daughter of a post member, Philip M. Schonberger, who now resides in Florida, is the oldest of four children, a gradu- ate of Berkley High School and plans to work and attend college in this area. The post and auxiliary award of $250 will assist Barbara with her tuition expense. Scholarship committee members are Mrs. Maurice Shepherd, chairman; Mr. and Mrs. Walter E. Klein, Judge Joseph J. Pernick, Dr. Leonard Schreiber, Mr. and Mrs Sidney Lantz and Mrs. Nor- man Pasmanter. We're just after your money. Mrs. Guyer, Ex-Detroiter Anna Guyer, former Detroiter of West Orange, N.J., died July 13 at age 40. When Mrs. Guyer lived here, from 1946 to 1959, she was a member of Bnai Brith. Born .in Lodz, Poland, Mrs. 'Guyer was interned in concentra- tion camps until the liberation in 1945. In West Orange, she was a mem- ber of Bnai Brith, the West Orange Jewish Center, Gombiner Society and Pioneer Women. Survivors are her husband, Ben; two sons, Sheldon and Sam- uel; a daughter, Hanna; a brother, Ben Ziskind of Detroit: and a sis- ter, Mrs: Sylvia Ajsner of Israel.
