Mrs. Marshall M. Miller and Mrs. Joseph Maltzer, both of
Huntington Woods, participated this month in the 15th international
conference of the World Union for Progressive Judaism, in Jerusalem.
Mrs. Miller, a leader in the Sisterhood of Temple Beth El, is vice
president of the National Federation of Temple Sisterhoods. Mrs. Malt-
zer, Sisterhood of Temple Emanu-El, is a member of the national
.federation's board of directors and chairman of the NFTS special
committee on Israel. Both are members of the NFTS special committee
on overseas affiliates.
Official delegatees to the National Auxiliaries Convention of the
Children's Asthma Research Institute and Hospital (CARIH), through
Wednesday include Mesdames Allan Levin, Michigan Council; Joseph
Landsberg, Detroit League; Edward Surma, Northwest Chapter; and
Donald Golde, Detroit Junior Chapter. Attending the convention with.
the delegates will be Mrs. Erma Levy and Mrs. Melba Prentiss of the
Detroit League.
Mr. and Mrs. Morris Weintraub of Shaftsbury Ave. entertained
at a surprise garden party for 75 relatives and friends honoring their
son, Arnold Sheldon, upon his graduation from Wayne State University's
law school. Mr. Weintraub, who holds a bachelor's degree from the
school of engineering, graduated cum laude and also received a book
award.

Harley M. Selling, president of
the Michigan Council, American
Jewish Congress, was awarded the
Ford Good Citizen Award by the
Ford Motor Company in recogni-
tion of -outstanding service to the
community.
In presenting the award Henry
Ford II, during ceremonies at. the
Ford administration headquarters,
stated that any citizen who ad-
dresses himself to the impelling
urban problems of the day con-
tributes importantly to the future
security of all.
Selling is manager of data proc-
essing technology f o r the Ford
Motor Company and is immediate
past president of the Detroit Photo
Guild. He is a member of the ex-
ecutive committee of the Jewish
Community Council and was co-
founder of a series of Negro-
Jewish dialogues which established
the fact that there are meaningful
areas where responsible white citi-
zens could interact positively with
members of the black community.
