Outer Dr. by their children, Dr. and Mrs. Arnold Eisenman, Dr. and Mrs. Harold Eisenman and Mr. and Mrs. Edward (Rosalyn) Horwitz of Utica, N.Y. Out-of-town relatives and guests included Mrs. Sarah Speiller and Mrs. Rose Horwitz of Utica, Dr. and Mrs. Joseph Schwartzberg and Mrs. Arlene Angell, of Cleve- land, Mrs. Sophie Aronson of Indianapolis and Mrs. Harold Ross of South Orange, N.J. Dr. Marshall R. Lapin, son of Mr. and Mrs. Sam Lapin of Briar Dr., Oak Park, has returned to Detroit after an absence of six years, Upon graduation it 1966 from Marquette University's dental school, Dr. Lapin enlisted in the air force. Capt. -Lapin was assigned to the McGuire Air Force Base dental clinic in New Jersey. He is married to the former Sharon Weingarden. Dr. and Mrs. Norval Slobin of Mark Twain Ave. left recently for Afghanistan to visit their son Mark and his wife Greta. Mr. Slobin is researching the music of that country for his doctorate under a Ford Foundation grant. His parents later will visit Israel, Greece and Vienna. The family of Mr. Harry M. Mandell of Everett Ave., Southfield, honored him on the occasion of his 65th birthday at a picnic held by the Turover Aid Society, of which Mr. Mandell is financial secretary. All proceeds were turned over to the Israel Emergency Fund. Mrs. Isadore Levin, formerly of Detroit and now of Los Angeles, visited here this week. TEL AVIV (JTA)—A water de- salinating plant will start opera- tions shortly at Nahal Yam, a para- military settlement established on the norhtern Sinai coast near the Bardawil lagoon. The settlers are engaged in fishing. The Jewish Agency's settlement department ordered construction of the plant to provide the settlement of fresh wa- ter for domestic uses- and irriga- tion. The plant will operate on the principle invented by Alexander Zarachin, a Russian-Born Israeli engineer who holds more than 20 patents for the desalination of–sea water.
