Dr. Shanfield has a long and active history in the Windsor Jewish Community. He is a past 'president of Windsor Lodge 1011 Bnai Brith and a member of the Balfour Branch 362 Royal Cana- dian - Legion. He has served as a co-chairman of the annual United Jewish Appeal Campaign as well as chairman of the admin- istration and youth activities' com- mittees of the Jewish Community Center. Elected with him were the fol- lowing officers: Vice presidents, Gerald Freed, Charles Zalev and William Tepper- man; treasurer, Mrs. Max Schott; secretary, Mrs. Gerald Verk; hon- orary secretary, Miss Frances Geller. A presentation was made on behalf of the Jewish Community Council to Morton M. Bernholtz, the retiring president. Dr. Henry Shanfield, 3216 Mc- Kay Ave., Windsor, Was elected president of the Windsor Jewish Community Council at its annual meeting June 26. Dr. Shanfield was born in Toronto and came to Windsor in 1949. He is a partner in the Brown Optical Co. and is a graduate of the Ontario College of Optometry. He is married to the former Rena Brudner and has two children, a daughter, Karen, who is a speech therapist, and a son, Stephen, a student in business administration at Wayne State University.
