In his new post, Levy, who was UJA director of public relations since 1951, will assume special responsibilities in matters related to UJA's national leadership and communications. Prior to join- ing UJA, Levy served as publicity director of the Joint Distribution Committee, and earlier of the Na- tional Refugee Service, both UJA beneficiary organizations. During World War II he was managing editor of the Master Radio Desk, of the Office of War Information. With him are George M. seltzer who spoke at the annual meeting; Michael J. tier- manoff, retiring president, and Richard Kamer, board member. 1 000-Plus Students Leave for Summer, Year in Israel Nearly 1,000 American and Cana- dian teenagers and college stu- dents will spend the bulk of the summer in Israel on a variety of under auspices of the Histadrut work, study and vacation programs Foundation for Educational Travel, according to an announcement by the Foundation's Executive Vice President, Max Mermelstein. The youngsters, ranging in age from 13 to 25, will spend five to seven weeks in Israel, working in kibutzin, touring, studying the He- brew language and culture, and mingling with their sabra peers. Another group of 150 American college students will leave for a year's study at the University of Tel Aviv. This special junior year program is sponsored by the Amer- ican Friends of the Tel Aviv Uni- versity, with travel arrangements taken care of by the Histadrut Foundation for.Educational Travel. .t i-tA Three airlifts are carrying 192 American students from New York to Tel Aviv to inaugurate the over- seas student program of Tel Aviv University. The first group left New York Sunday with two additional flights this week. In messages to the departing students, Vice President Hubert Humphrey predicted that a "won- derful experience" awaited them. Former Ambassador Arthur. J. Goldberg expressed his belief .that "all of you who are departing for Israel will benefit from your study there" and that "Israel will have a better understanding of the nited States from your study in Israel." The newest facilities developed by the Histadrut Foundation for American youngsters is at Kibutz Glil Yam, just north of Tel Aviv. Here, children between 8 and 12 can be "parked" by parents who are visiting Israel with them and wish to be free to pursue an adult itinerary part of the time.
