Mrs. Robert Torgow of Cooley Ave., following in the footsteps of
her brother, Mel Merzon, who heads the English department at Oak
Park High School, was recipient of a teacher's certificate at Wayne
State University commencement exercises Tuesday. After rearing three
children, Mrs. Torgow resumed her college studies; she will join the
Southfield schools in September. Mrs. Torgow was entertained at
a luncheon by the Merzons noon Wednesday. The Torgows and their
children were feted at a party by Mr. and Mrs. Frank Rothenberg
of McIntyre Ave. Wednesday evening, and the graduate's parents,
Mr. and Mrs. M. Manuel Merzon of Griggs Ave., will honor her
Sunday.
Cornfield Family Club will hold its last meeting of the season
8 p.m. Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Galper, 10160 Dart-
mouth, Oak Park.
A party was tendered Mr. and Mrs. Harry A. Krandall of San

Tribute was paid to RABBI NIS-
SIM HAYWARD at the recent an-
nual banquet of the Young Israel
of Oak-Woods. For the past six
years, Rabbi Hayward has been
principal of the Hebrew school
sponsored by Young Israel and has
now resigned to assume the posi-
tion of principal of Yeshiva Ohel
Torah in Miami Beach. In present-
