Miami Jewish School Enrollment Slips Novel Appears in
. MIAMI (JTA)—A slight declines and Sunday school departments. an English Text
has been reported in registration! The slight decline was reflected

for the past school year in Jewish
schools of Greater Miami and Hol-
lywood, according to the Bureau
of Jewish Education.
Total registration in pre-schools,
Hebrew departments and one-day-
a-week departments of the 40
schools in the area was listed at
11,514 students. This was 162 stu-
dents less than registered in 1966-
67.
The data showed that more stu-
dents were now registered in the
joint program of both afternoon

in the one-day-a-week schools. The
number of boys in the afternoon
schools declined slightly by 88 —
from 3,256 in 1966-67 to 3,168 this
year. Girls registered in the one-
day-a-week departments were 49
less this year than in the previous
year. Boys in the one-day-a-week
schools dropped in number by 179
from the previous year. National
figures show an increase in the
national Jewish birthrate which
should lead to an improvement in
registration in Jewish elementary
schools.
