Temples Federation Elects Tikofsky
Dr. Ronald Tikofsky was elected
president of the Metropolitan De-
troit Federation of Reform Syna-
gogues at the annual meeting.
Dr. Tikofsky is president of
Temple Beth Emeth in Ann Arbor,
professor of psychology and speech
at the University of Michigan and
chairman of the program of psy-
cholinguistics at the University of
Michigan.
Other officers are Sherwin
Birnkrant of Temple Beth Jacob,
Pontiac, vice president; Robert
S. Canvasser, Temple Beth El,
and Harry Pliskow of Temple
Israel, vice presidents; Marshall
Madison of Temple Israel and
Walter Stark of Temple Emanu-
El, secretaries; and Laurence
Covitz of Temple Beth El, Flint,
treasurer.
The federation is planning an
expanded program for its college
of Jewish studies for the training
of religious school teachers, a joint
adult Jewish education program;
a joint service in observance of
the 150th birthday of Rabbi Isaac
M. Wise, founder of Reform Juda-
ism in the United States; a joint
funtcion for the Reform Jewish
Appeal; and special courses, for
converts to Judaism under the aus-
pices of the college of Jewish
studies.
