`Bud' Kaufman Will Be Honored at the White House
Joseph' W. (Bud) Kaufman,

Johnson that he has been named
a Presidential Scholar of 1968; the
nation's highest honor to high
school seniors.
Bud, son of .Mr. and Mrs. Her-
bert Kaufman, 8403 Hendrie, Hunt-
ner and recipient of the National
Counci • of English Teachers' award
and Detroit Assocition of Phi Beta
Kappa Award. He is active in
high school dramatics, is in the
a capella choir and on the varsity
cross country team.

drama and piano major at Inter-
lochen National Music Camp for
the past three summers. He or-
ganized and operated a landscap-
ing company one summer.
In the fall, he will be attending
Williams College in WilliamstoWn,
Mass: He has two sisters, Ilene
and Patty; and an exchange stu-
dent "brother" from Holland, Kees
Garter. His grandparents are Mr.
and Mrs. Saul Kopman and Mr.
and Mrs. Ira Kaufman.
