Pioneer Women Offers Aid to Israel's War Widows With Counseling Service

TEL AVIV — A counseling
service is now being offered the
families of Israeli war casualties
by Pioneer Women. Through the
recently organized family admin-
istrative department of Pioneer
Women's Israeli arm, counseling,
guidance, legal assistance and
moral support are being provided.
As contrasted to previous Israeli
wars when most of the casualties
were single young men, the recent
conflict and border attacks struck

down hundreds of soldiers and re-
servists who left wives and chil-
dren desperately in need of as-
sistance.
The new Pioneer Women pro-
gram has already personally af-
fected many of the 640 widows and
750 children left fatherless since
the Six-day War.
Attorneys are available without
cost, to handle complicated mat-
ters concerning estates, pensions,
guardianships, life insurance,

leases and apartment ownership.
Friendship circles have been
set up among the widows. A vol-
unteer psychologist meets with
these groups and places herself
in each neighborhood at the dis-
posal of the war widows.
The program has also been in-
strumental in directing the widows
to take professional courses to help
train for jobs which will aid in pro-
viding for their family needs. The
organization operates day nurs-
eries, vocational training courses,
community centers and other ser-
vice institutions throughout the
country, mainly in immigrant
neighborhoods and development
areas.

If company is coming, a variety
of canapes can be made with
cream cheese; and cream cheese-
lox-bagel sandwiches provide a
hearty lunch after synagogue serv-
ices.
