New Temple Plans
Dedication of
Taussig Tora

U.S. Congregations Back 20--Friday, May 31, 1968
THE DETROIT JEWISH NEWS
Hebrew U. Scholarships

NEW YORK — Congregations of
the three branches of Judaism in
America have undertaken a drive
to provide a maximum number of
scholarships for Israeli and Amer-
ican students at the Hebrew Uni-
versity. Samuel Rothberg, national
chairman of the Mt. Scopus Scho-
larship -Program, has announced
that the national campaign will
be officially initiated at a lunch-
eon in honor of Avraham Harman,
president of the Hebrew University
of Jerusalem, Thursday at Univer-
sity House, 11 E. 69th St.
Many temples and community
centers as well as individuals have
subscribed to scholarships at $2,-
500 each. This figure is based on
the average needs of a Hebrew
University student including tuition,
textbooks, housing, health services
and, where necessary, transporta-
tion. All contributions are tax de-
ductible.
The typical Hebrew University
student is a' veteran of service in
the armed forces and is consider-
ably older than his American coun-
terpart. Many of them are married,
and some have children. Over 60
per cent of the Hebrew University's
student body must be totally or
partially subsidized, and most of
the students must work part-time.

Livonia Installation Fete

its sisterhood will hold their third

dance 7 p.m. Wednesday in the
social hall. Panchito and his or-
chestra will provide music for
dancing after the sit-down catered
dinner. For information, call the
synagogue office, 425-9370.
