mander of the Israel Army Central
Command in the Six-Day War, and

U.S. Marine
Corps Reserve,
will head the
program at

celebrate 20 years of Israel's
statehood, will be held in the Fred
Hopfeld Hall of the Synagogue.
Col. Shaham, one of Israel's out-
standing military heroes, has been
an officer in the Israel defense
forces since the establishment of
the state. Born in Tel Aviv, he
joined the Hagana in 1939 and
in 1941 became a member of Pal-
mach. Starting in 1941, he served
for four years in the Jewish Bri-
gade of the British 8th Army in
World War II. He now occupies a
senior command post.
Weinstein joined the U.S. Ma-
rines in 1941, and rose to captain,
serving for five years in the Pa-
cific area, seeing action in the
battles of Saipan, Roi-Namur, Tin-
ian and Iwo Jima. Upon his return
to Detroit in 1946, he embarked
upon the practice of law and on
a reserve career in the Marines.
He was commissioned a Major in
1948 and was promoted to lieuten-
ant colonel in 1953 and colonel in
1962. Last year he was promoted
to brigadier general and is the
only native-born Michiganite to
hold this high post in the history
of the Marine Corps Reserve, and
the second member of the Jewish
faith to have this honor.
Rabbi Joel J. Litke will give the
tribute to the honoree.

Some day soon,
Kutsher's Golf Pro
is going to club our MC.

We've got a beautiful championship golf course,
7,157 yards, 18 holes, 3 tees at each hole. Yet in the
Morning it all goes to waste.
It's our night life.
Great shows every night. First in one night club, then
in the other. Act after act. And when you think it's
going to end, our MC announces another.
Several times, the Golf Pro has asked the MC to tell
the golfers they have to get up in the morning. Bu you
know MC's. He never does.
So one of these days, our Pro will really get mad and
club our MC. Make sure you're there to see it.
