Gets $45,000 Grant

NEW YORK (JTA)—The Hebrew
Union College-Jewish Institute of
Religion (Reform) has received a
$45,000 grant from the Ford Foun-
dation to train advanced graduate
students in archaeology, it was
announced here.
The HUC is the only Jewish in-
stitution among 19 American and
Canadian colleges and universi-
ties receiving grants for archaeo-
logical training under a $1,500,000
Ford Foundation program.

Hold Weekend Retreat

Leadership Cabinet of the United
Jewish Appeal, from 42 cities
throughout the United States, began
the annual weekend retreat here
Thursday night at the Onchiota
Conference Center in Sterling
Forest.
The Young Leadership Cabinet
is the offcial body which governs
the UJA Young Leadership pro-
gram involving more than 12,000
adults who have demonstrated
leadership potential in their own
