The rotund comedian of the Las Vegas night- club circuit will soon be seen on TV potato chip commercials as successor to the late Bert Lahr, saying, "I'll bet you can't eat just one." Hackett is currently essaying the role of a comical mechanic in Walt Disney's production of "The Love Bug," co-starring Dean Jones, Michele Lee, David Tomlinson and Joe Flynn. Buddy is writing the TV commercial himself. Edward G. Robinson is a natural for the role of a big-time gangster art collector in "Never a Dull Mo- ment," co-starring with Dorothy Provine and Dick Van Dyke. In private life, Robinson (an under- world character in many of his past films, beginning with "Little Cae- sar") maintains an extensive col- lection of master artwork. Not to be out-done by her husband, Mrs. Robinson has opened an art busi- ness in Los Angeles called "Giraffe Gallery." Jerry -Lewis is preparing his 38th feature film, his fourth at Colum- bia, "Hook Line and Sinker,". an original yarn about a wife who plots to kill her husband for the in- surance. Rod Amateau is produc- ing; George Marshall directs from Jerry's own screenplay, with the comedian himself protraying the would-be victim. Henry Levin will shoot "The Marauders," an action-adventure Western for producer Irving Allen on location in Spain. Vince Ed- wards, Jack Palance, and Neville Brand have commenced their per- formances, with Sylvia Syms and son Benjamin Edney joining the cast from England.
