if Torczyner to Address ZOA Regional Convention Jacques Torczyner, national president of the Zionist Organiza- tion of America, will be guest speaker at the banquet of the founding convention of the North Central Region of the Zionist Or- ganization of America May 18, at the Jewish Community Center in Milwaukee. The convention will open May 17 with a luncheon and will continue May 18 and 19. Morton Wax of Milwaukee is chairman of the planning commit- tee, assisted by Dr. J. C. Workshop seminars on Aliya, Haber to Advise U-111 Officials in Search for Negro Faculty; Retains Vital Post at U. of M. Dean William Haber of the Uni- versity of Michigan College of Lit- erature, Science and the Arts, has been given a special one-year as- signment as adviser to the univer- sity's executive officers. Regents confirmed the appointment. Haber, who retires from the deanship June 30, is a nationally known labor economist. He will begin his new assignment next fall working in two broad areas, Presi- dent Robben W. Fleming said. He will assist with long-range planning, including the prepara- tion of economic analyses and gen- eral academic plans. And he will give special attention to helping Vice President Allen F. Smith, the various colleges and the de- partment with the recruitment of Negro faculty members. "We feel the appointment of Wil- liam Haber will bring an impres- sive addition to our administrative staff," President Fleming said. "His years of experience, insight and superb administrative skill will be welcome." Haber has been a professor of economics at U-M since 1936, and for the past five years has been dean of the largest academic unit on campus.
