He holds a BA in business administration and economics from the University of Michigan, double MBA in finance and marketing from Michigan State University and is writing a dissertation for his doctorate in business government relations from Harvard Business School. Former consultant for Harvard/MIT Joint Center on Urban Studies, working on slum rehabilitation in New York's Harlem, he also is a former college teacher and faculty mem- ber at Michigan State University, Boston University and Harvard University. He was named one of the 10 Outstanding Young Men of the Nation in 1967 by the U.S. Junior Chamber of Commerce. The youngest man ever pointed to the House appropria- tions subcommit- tee, Riegle was a leader in the suc- cessful House drive to create a permanent ethics committee. He was elected by the Nation mag- azine as one of Riegle two "best Con- gressman for the year" in 1967. Riegle's most intense area of work has been the Vietnam war.
