Atlanta Jews Mourn Death of Archbishop ATLANTA (JTA) — The Jew- ish Welfare Federation, the repre- sentative organization of the Greater Atlanta Jewish communi- ty, extended to "our Catholic brethren," the sympathy of the community on the death of Arch- bishop Paul J. Hallinan of Atlanta. The federation's tribute to the prelate was published in the Geor- gia Bulletin, organ of the arch- diocese, in which Archbishop Hal- linan made many statements of importance to the Jewish people in the past. The prelate, who had taken an active part in the Vatican Council in support of a declaration on Ca- tholic-Jewish relations, issued a strong statement in support of Is- rael last year when the Arab states were threatening to attack the Jewish state. Associates Pay Honor to Memory of Leibick Tributes were paid this week by his many associates in the la- bor Zionist movement to the mem- ory of Solomon Leibick who died March 26 at the age of 66. Mr. Liebick, whose late resi- dence was at 19759 Burgess, was a skilled photographer, having started in the business at the age of 14. Born in Stavesi, Poland, he came to the U.S. in 1924 and settled in Detroit in 1939. A humanist and a scholar, he wrote extensively, was an avid reader and a dedi- cated Zionist. He was a member of Branch 137 of Farband, was associated with Kyutzah Ivrith and Einstein Lodge of Bnai Brith and was active in IKUF. He took a deep interest in Histadrut, Jewish National Fund and related movement. He was the organizer of a group of parents whose children settled in Israel. Mr. Leibick was known as a He- braist as well as a Yiddishist, he studied at Midrasha, lectured oc- casionally at Kvutzah and recently to classes at Oak Park High School. His survivors are his wife, Ruth; a son, Arthur Lavi of Israel; a daughter, Mrs. Dorothy Broder; five sisters and five grandchildren. Antwerp Jewish Leader ANTWERP (JTA) — Isaac Frey- lich, for many years president of the Jewish community of Ant- werp, died here at the age of 77. Freund, financier and lifelong Zionist, died Tuesday at age 64. He was the husband of Dr. Miriam Freund, former national president of Ha d ass ah. Mr. Freund, chief executive of- ficer of Koenig-Freund, Inc., in- vestment and real estate financing company, initiated the idea of the Jewish Center for the United Na- tions and was a prime mover in its esablishment. At the time of his death he was chairman of the board. In addition, he was a vice president of the Boro Park Dis- trict of the Zionist Organization of America and a member of the executive board of State of Israel Bonds, as well as former president of Cong.
