THE MEDICAL MEDALLION
collection of Julien Priver, ex-

that it gives much vent to the ex-

throws away anything . . . Dr.
Priver's collection mainly involves
doctors and hos-

he also has med-

many more, including a most in-

On one side is a picture of the in-

is a masterpiece sent to him from
London of a famous pathologist
of the 1878 era named Charles Ro-

two inches in diameter, with the
famed man's head sculptured in
museum craftsmanship . . Dr.
Priver got started in his hobby by
observing the great collection of
Nate Shapero president of Sinai
Hospital, with whom he has had
a close relationship since coming
here in 1951 from Mt. Sinai Hos-
pital in New York . . One day
Nate showed Dr. Priver his col-
lection, which contained some me-
dallions pertaining to medicine .. .
Since he didn't have any particu-
lar interest in them, Nate gave
the pieces to Dr. Priver who has
since accumulated a collection of
about 250 . .. With an eye toward
professional courtesy, Dr. Priver
keeps his fine collection stored in
