affairs committee of the Zionist
Organization of Detroit, Governor
George Romney greeted the nu-
merous Zionist anniversaries now
being observed and stated:
"It is not too often that I have
the opportunity to recognize on a
single occasion such meaningful
and significant events as you are
observing this evening.
"For more than six decades,
the Jewish people have been in
the front of the battle to heighten
man's understanding of his fellow
man — the battle for equality and
brotherhood. Jewish people have
sought not only knowledge but so-
through the ages: hatred, preju-
dice, and the unreasoning fear
that sets brother against brother.
"I send all of you my very best
wishes as you celebrate these very
meaningful milestones in the il-
lustrious history of American
Jews."
