Abe Bronfman, Industrialist and Jewish Leader NEW YORK — Abe Bronfman, retired vice president of Distillers Corp.-Seagrams, Ltd., of Canada, died March 16 in Safety Harbor, Fla. He was 85 and lived in Mont- real. He and his brothers Samuel, president of Distillers, and Allan, its vice president, built up the large liquor concern. Before World War II, Mr. Bronfman took a lead- ing role in the work of the Canadian Jewish Congress Refugee Committee, which settled refugees in Canada. He was a director of the Joint Distribution Committee and helped form the United Jewish Relief Agency. He was honorary presi- dent of the United Talmud Toras.
