Three Anti-Jewish Black Radical Propaganda Darts

By MILTON FRIEDMAN

WASHINGTON—The black na-
tionalist radical fringe is spreading
myths concerning Jews as the
summer approaches.
Agitators are pushing a line
based on racial chauvinism that
is generally anti-white but speci-
fically anti-Israel.
Three main propaganda points
are:
1. Israel is alleged to be a white
supremacist colonial power. T h e
Arabs are depicted as part of the
"900 million black people now ris-
ing against injustice and exploita-
tion in league with American

FOR A

Commitment to Their

Negroes." United States Negroe
are ridiculed for sympathizin g
with Israel and told to ally them
selves with the Arabs, a "black'
people.
2. The "White Establishment" in
America is preparing concentra
tion camps and genocide fo r
Negroes along the lines of S S
plans for the mass-murder o f
Jews. Jews are ridiculed for "per
mitting" the murder of Six Million
This is stated in contrast with
black radical exhortations for a
violent armed struggle.
3. A myth is manufactured to
the effect that American treatment
of Negroes is even worse than
Nazi anti-Semitism.
The most recent expression of
such themes was voiced by Stokely
Carmichael, philosopher of the
radical element among black na-
tionalists, at an Oakland, Calif.,
rally of the Black Panther Party
For Self-Defense. The rally was
held in support of a Black Panther
leader awaiting trial on charges of
killing a white policeman.
Carmichael asserted that "our
political situation must become
international." Citing the Arab-
Israel issue as the "uppermost"
problem, he said: "We must de-
clare on whose side we stand.
We can be for no one but the
Arabs. There can be no doubt in
our minds. Because Israel be-
longed to the Arabs in 1917. The
British gave it to a group of

terrorist groups, organized the
state and did not get anywhere
until Hitler came along and they
swelled the state in 1948. That
country belonged to the Palestin-
ians. Not only that, they're mov-
ing to take over Egypt. Egypt
is our motherland -7 'Ws in
Africa."
Deriding Negroes for failing to
challenge Jews, Carmichael said:
"Here are a group of Zionists who
come anywhere they want to and
organize love and feeling for a
place called Israel, which was
created in 1948, where their youth
are willing to go and fight for
Israel. Egypt belonged to us 4,000
years ago and we sit here sup-
porting the Zionists. We got to be
for the Arabs."
Carmichael urged Negroes to
arm themselves. He drew an anal-
ogy between U.S. police prepara-
tions for possible summer riots and
the Nazi extermination of Jews.
But, said Carmichael, "we are
ahead of the Jews. We know what
they (the whites) are getting ready
to do."
He cited the Viet Cong as an
example to be emulated. "It is
this will of a people that decides
a war," said Carmichael. His
call for a race war went to the
extent of urging Negroes to
seize guns and tanks.
Rejecting integration, Car-
michael said that no matter how
much money Negroes earned,
"when you go into the white world
you are still a nigger."
Such racism advocates have
been known to argue that the
Negro masses must be alerted to
"Jewish exploitation" to divide and
conquer in the coming racial con-
frontation with "Whitey."
A theme obnoxious to Jews is
starting to recur. It is that the
Negro lot in America is worse
than that of Jews under Hitler.
Jews are disparaged for failing to
take arms against the Germans.
But Hitler's concept of a "super-
race" and world solidarity of
"Aryans" is somehow forgotten by
the prophets of the new black
racism.

ish deportees who died in Nazi con-
centration camps during World
War II will be erected here begin-

Vandals Smear Racist
Phrases on Belgian Wall

BRUSSELS (JTA)—Anti-Semitic
and anti-Negro slogans were
smeared by unknown vandals on
the walls of the Palais Des Con-
gress here Sunday just before the
opening of a meeting by the move-
ment against racism, anti-Semi-
tism and xenophobia which marked
the 20th anniversary of the United
Nations Convention on Human
Rights.
The meeting had on its agenda
a Belgian draft bill against racism
and xenophobia, and the ratifica-
tion by Belgium of the UN conven-
tion against racial discrimination.
The slogans on the walls of the
buildings read, "death to Negroes,"
"Jews go back to Israel" and
"bomb Hanoi."

Affidavits by Spectators Back
Zeiders Anti-Semitism Charges

TORONTO (JTA)—Two spectators of the National League hockey
game here in which Larry Zeidel, only Jewish player in the league,
charged he was subject to anti-Semitic abuse from the Boston Bruins
players' bench, gave affidavits to Clarence Campbell, president of
the league, he said Tuesday.

The affidavits were said to identify by name the Boston players
who hurled anti-Jewish obsenities and taunts at the Jewish veteran.
Campbell said that the documents were "the first evidence I have
received to work on."
Zeidel was involved in a fight with a Boston player for which
both were penalized by suspensions. Zeidel complained that he had
been subject to a barrage of anti-Semitic abuse which he had tried
to ignore but said he could not ignore references to the gas cham-
bers. His grandparents, he said, had lost their lives in the Holocaust.
The Canadian Jewish Congress commended the league president
for undertaking the investigation and urged that "the investigatio
be an exhaustive one so that all facts may be available before t
public and every step taken to see to it that such occurrences w
never again happen."

ROCK OF FAITH FOR PASSOVER

A 2,000 year Old story of heroism that has come alive
for all people who would live free in thought, deed and worship.

Atop this rock, Masada, in 73 C.E.
a small band of Jewish Zealots

wrote an epic chapter in man's his-
tory of resistance against tyranny,

In the 1st Century, C.E., the Jew-
ish Maccabean Kingdom of Jerusa-

lem was overthrown by the Romans.
Periodic rebellions by the Jewish

inhabitants were crushed but one
full-scale revolt raged on for 4 years.
The Roman General, Titus, finally
conquered Jerusalem, but one Jew-
ish outpost of resistance remained
Masada.

For three more indescribably dif-
ficult years atop Masada, the Jewish
Zealots withstood ceaseless attacks
by legion upon legion of Romans.

Finally, the Romans pierced the
defensive wall of Masada and there
was no escape for the gallant peo-
ple who had held off the Romans so
heroically; Thus, 960 Jewish men
women and children died at their
own hands rather than to submit
to a life of slavery. Upon entering
Masada, the conquering Romans
could only marvel at their courage.

,

The recent archeological excava-
tion at this site made the legend of
Masada a fact. This Passover, we can

celebrate another glorious chapter
in our proud history. Its lesson for
free men the world over is clear..
"Masada shall not fall again—we
shall remain free men."
