peal, it was announced by Her-
bert J. Garon of New Orleans,
newly elected cabinet chairman.
Named to serve as associate
chairman of the cabinet for his
second term was Gordon B. Zacks
of Columbus, 0. Both men have
been leaders in the cabinet since
its inception in December, 1962.
Representing Detroit in the cabi-
net are Merle A. Harris and
Thomas I. Klein.
Harris, an executive committee
member of the Jewish Welfare
Federation of Detroit. is president
of the Jewish Family and Chil-
dren's service and a leader in the
Jewish Vocational Service. In 1961
he re ceiv e d the Federation's
Young Leadership Award.
Klein, a trustee of the Jewish
Vocational Service and Common
ity Workshop, was chairman of the
executive committee for 1966-67 of
the Federation's junior division.
