Dr. Katz was ordained at the Hebrew Union College in 1943 and earned graduate degrees there in 1943 and 1952, Army chaplain in World War II in Italy and western Europe, he has been a member of the HUC faculty since 1947. He has taught in the de- Dr. Katz ' partment of soci - ology at the University of Cincin- nati and at Antioch College. has conducted numerous institutes throughout the country and is presently serving as a consultant to the National Institute on Mental Health. His book, "Empathy: Its Nature and Uses," was published by the Free Press in 1963.
