Max Fisher, national president
of the United Jewish Appeal,
sparked a recent meeting of Flint's
big givers to exceed last year's
totals in the combined regular and
emergency fund giving.
Louis Kasle and Philip Agree,
chairmen of the initial gifts and
advance gifts divisions, announced
that to date almost $350,000 has
been raised in the campaign, as
compared with 8309,800 on these ,
same cards last year.
Joseph Megdell, campaign co-
ordinator and a member of the
national UJA executive committee,
lauded the community for its un-
derstanding and response. Both
Fisher and Kasle underlined the
fact that Israel's emergency is not
over.

Kasle Helps Chart
Bond Conference

Louis Kasle is a member of a
continent-wide committee of Jew-
ish communal leaders to organize
the launching of the 1968 campaign
for State of Israel Bonds.
The committee planned and di-
rected preparations in the U. S.
and Canada for the international
Israel Bonds inaugural conference,
to be held at the Fontainebleu
Hotel. Miami, this weekend.
Major Gen. Itzhak Rabin, Israel's
newly designated ambassador to
the United States, who served as
chief of staff of the Israel defense
forces during the Six-Day War,
will be guest of honor at the con-
ference.
Vice President Hubert H.
Humphrey will address the in-
augural dinner Saturday.

Marriages

Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Harrison
announce the recent marriage of
their daughter Carole Diana to
Robert Barry Hecker of Detroit
at Temple Israel. Rabbi Leon
Fram officiated.

Tinker Air Force Base, Okla-
homa City, was the setting for the
marriage of Sharon K. Martin to
Capt. Jerrold S. Shuster. Officiat-
ing was Rabbi Mervin B. Tomsky.
Parents of the couple are Mr. and
Mrs. Frank J. Martin of Mid-
west City, Okla., and Mr. and
Mrs. Samuel J. Shuster of Chal-
mers St., Flint. In the bridal
party were maid of honor Carla
Heil of San Antonio, bridesmaids
Janice Francis of Midwest City
and Sandy Renison of Rancho
Cordova. Calif., and junior brides-
maid Terry Bean of Midwest City.
Attending their brother were Ted
M. Shuster, best man, and D. Allen
Shuster, usher. Also ushering was
Lt. Neal A. L. Goldstein.

Neo-Nazi Gets 20 Years
in Slaying of Rockwell

ARLINGTON (JTA) —The fe-
fense lawyer of John Patler, who
was sentenced Friday to 20 ears
in prison for killing George Rock-
well, leader of the American Nazi
Party, said Sunday he would file
an appeal within four months. At-
torney Thomas Harrigan indicated
that the case might not be heard
for at least a year. He asserted
there were 22 court errors in Pat-
ler's 16-day trial.
