WASHINGTON—Rep. Benjamin
Rosenthal, New York Democrat,
held special hearings to investigate
the practices of food stores in
low-income neighborhoods. There
were many complaints that chain
stores use their low-income outlets
as dumping grounds for meats and
vegetables that are beginning to
spoil, charging the same prices de-
manded for fresh food in fashion.

with an English translation.
After the exhibit, the collection

Humanism

The principle of the dignity of all men and reverence

RESPONSIVE YOUTH: Effective as Rabbi Friedman was in his ad-
dress at the opening campaign in France, he also was successful in
reaching the young leadership group of Jews in France . . . This
group consists of young scholars, writers, physicians, engineers and
intellectuals who have been raised in an atmosphere of complete
assimilation but who are now developing* interest in Jewish matters
' and in Israel ... Against a general Jewish background, the UJA leader
acquainted this group with the aims and accomplishments of the UJA
and sought to imbue them with the same spirit of devotion and dedi-
cation now prevailing among the young leaders of the UJA in the
United States.
