Dinner Feb. 7; Divisions Start Solicitations

Brigadier General Aharon Yariv,
chief of intelligence for the Israel
army. will be guest of honor at the
pre-campaign black-tie dinner of
the Allied Jewish Campaign-Israel
Emergency F u n d, Wednesday,
Feb. 7, at the Statler Hilton Hotel.
General Yariv provided the de-
tailed information on enemy forc-
es and fortifications which was vi-
tal in the swift completion of the
Six-Day War.
The pre-campaign team for the
drive is headed by Chairman Mey-
er M. Fishman, Samuel Frankel,
Max M. Shaye and Richard Sloan.

is being anticipated with enthus-
iasm by pre-campaign contribu-
tors. according to Alfred L.
Deutsch. campaign chairman, and
his co-chairman, Maxwell Jospey.
General Yariv has been. a mili-
tary man since he joined the flag-
anall. the Jewish self-defense or-
ganization of pre-Israel Palestine,
at the age of 18. He was born in
Latvia but moved to Palestine
with his parents as a youngster.
He served with the British Army
in 1941 and fought, with the Jewish
Brigade. He returned to Palestine
in 1946 and when the State of Is-
rael was established he joined its
army.
As a staff officer he served as
a military atache in the Israel em-
bassies in Washington and Ottawa
and in 1961 was given a senior post'
in the intelligence department of •
the general staff and in 1964 was
promoted to "Aluf" — Brigadier
General—and became head of in-
telligence.

Attorney Albert M. Colman, is
serving as chairman of the profes-
sional division of the 1968 Allied
Jewish Campaign-Israel Emer-
gency Fund, Alfred L. Deutsch.
and Maxwell Jaspey, campaign co-
chairmen announced.
In addition to his legalistic pur-
suits, Mr. Colman has been an ac-
tive member of the anti-Defama-
tion League board, the Jewish
Comunity Council's community re-
lations comittee and as commander
of the Jewish War' Veterans. He
has served on the board of the
Jewish Community Center and is
former chairman of the attorneys'
section of the Allied Jewish Cam-
paign.
Serving as co-chairmen of the
professional division are Dr. Eli
M. Brown and Herbert P. Sillman.
Vice chairman are Avern Cohn,
Dr. Manuel Feldman, Norman D.
Katz, Jack A. Robinson and A.
Richard Tischler.
Pre-campaign chairmen of the
professional division are Dr. I.
Jermoe Hauser, Milton Lucow, Dr.
Hyman S. Mellen and Milton J.
Miller.
Colman announced chairmen of
the various sections as follows:

Joseph H. Jackier. Co-chairmen

Chairmen of the dentists and den-

Dr. Stanley H. Levy is acting
chairman of the medical physi-
cians section. Co-chairmen are
Drs. Ned Ira Chalat and Stuart

Heading the pharmacists and
pharmaceutical section are Sidney

Bruce E. Thal is chairman of the

Rabin to Address
Bond Conference

MIAMI — Gen. Itzhak Rabin,
Israel's ambasador-designate to the
United States, who served as chief
of staff of the Israel defense forces
during the Six-Day War, will be
the guest of honor at the inter-
national inaugural conference for
Israel Bonds, Feb. 29 through
51 arch 3, at the Fontainbleu
Hotel for the formal launching of
the 1968 campaign for Israel
Bonds. This year's drive will seek
to provide from one-half to two-
thirds of Israel's Development
Budget of $289,000,000 for 1968.
The occasion will mark General
Rabin's first appearance before
the leadership of American and
Canadian Jewry after assuming
the post of Israel's Ambassador
to this country next month.
Gen. Rabin, one of his country's
foremost military heroes, took
command of Israel's air, land and
sea forces in December 1963.
Prior to becoming Chief of Staff,
he served in various top positions
in Israel's Army.
