Mothers' March Tuesday

to Fight Birth Defects

Thousands of volunteers will ring
doorbells for the March of Dimes
Tuesday in Wayne, Oakland and
Macomb counties.
This annual, one-night Mothers'
March, to collect funds for the
March of Dimes is the most im-
portant event of the month-long
National Foundation campaign to
expand the three-point program of
medical care, scientific research
and public education for the fight
against birth defects.
Research programs at universi-
ties, hospitals, birth defects re-
search centers and the Salk Insti-
tute for Biological Studies are sup-
ported by the foundation. This
volunt a r y health organization
finances nearly 100 research and
treatment centers for the bedside
study of birth defects and the de-
velopment of treatment techniques.
Volunteers for the Mothers'
March are helping to provide more
centers and to treat more children.
