and luncheon 12:30 p.m. Feb. 10,
immediately after Sabbath services
in the social hall. A dramatic and
musical program, "Best Sellers for
You," will be presented under the
direction of Mrs. Bella Goldberg.
Among the participants in the pro-
gram will be Mesdames Ben Z.
Freeman, Isaac Goodman, Ben-
jamin H. Gorrelick, Korby and
William Lipman. Mrs. Joe Med-
wed, president of the sisterhood,
will offer greetings and welcome.
This event has been planned by
the sisterhood oneg Shabbat com-
mittee consisting of Mesdames Ben
Z. Freeman, chairman, Benjamin
H. Gorrelick and Bernard Panush.

LADIES OF YESHIVATH BETH
YEHUDAH and WOMEN'S SAB-
BETH LEAGUE will hold a meet-

by Mrs. Israel Notis and Mrs.
Harry Band. Guest speaker will
be Rabbi Eli Friedman of Yeshi-

HOOD's "Town Hall Series," in
which Mrs. Goldie Adler has been
bringing information on "Israel:
1948-1968," is scheduled for Feb.
7, 10 a.m. in the social hall of
Shaarey Zedek. A continental
breakfast will precede the lec-
ture. Mrs. Adler will discuss
"Israel — Its Resources" at this
session and will conclude the ser-
ies March 6 with "Israel—Its Cul-
ture." Mrs. Walter Field, chair-
man of the Town Hall Series, will

Conservative Leadership Pays Tribute to Women
of Golden Jubilee of Na tional Sisterhood Unit

NEW YORK (JTA)—The 200,000
members of the National Women's
League of the United Synagogue
of America were accorded "alum-
nae" status by the Jewish Theo-
logical Seminary of America as
part of a tribute paid them by the
leaders of Conservative Judaism
on the occasion of the league's
50th anniversary. A citation con-
ferring the honorary title was
presented to Mrs. Sol Henkind,
president of the league, by Dr.
Bernard Mandelbaum, seminary
president, at a banquet Sunday
night marking the Golden Jubilee
Year of the women's group.
Earlier, the organization, which
is affiliated with 800 Conservative
synagogues in the United States
and Canada, was hailed by Rabbi
Louis Finkelstein, chancellor of the
Jewish Theological Seminary, who
praised its membership for their

ism and on the strengthening of
family life, will be a potent force
for the maintenance of Judaism in

The National Women's League
of the United Synagogue of Amer-
ica was founded in January 1918,
by Mrs. Solomon Schechter, wife
of the seminary's second presi-
dent. It is the women's arm of
Conservative Judaism and con-
ducts a wide range of religious,
educational and service activities
reaching the Jewish and general
communities in the United States,
Canada, Mexico and Puerto Rico.
