Cantor Asher, served as edu-
cational director of temples in
South Orange and Teaneck, N.J.
He was invested as cantor-edu-
cator in 1957 by the Hebrew
Union College School of Sacred
Music in New York, and is pres-
ently a candidate for a PhD
from Dropsie College, Philadel-
phia.

Cantor Asher is secretary of the
National Association of Temple
Educators.

The Arab-Israeli war of 1967 will
be put into histroical perspective
in a new course being offered for
the. spring semester at Oakland
University.
In a course entitled, "Jewish
History Since the Civil War: Here
and Abroad," Rabbi Ernst J. Con-
rad will lead his class in a study
of the events that led to the for-
mation of the state of Israel.
The course, to be conducted at
the Birmingham Community
House, will meet on Monday eve-
nings, beginning Feb. 19.
Rabbi Conrad said the course will
be tailored to both Jews and non-
Jews who wish to better under-
stand the history of the Jewish
minority in the United States.
