WHEREAS—A group of public-spirited men and women in ear
midst who, being steeped in our Jewish heritage and sacred traditions,
have years ago organized themselves into a "MIKVAH ISRAEL" asso-
ciation, and hove since its inception worked unceasingly and whole-
heartedly an behalf of "TAHARATH HAMISHPACHA;" and have
labored for many years with great fervor, devotion and sacrifice for
the building and maintenance of a new and modern "MIKVAH"—
RITULARIUM, which is located at 15150 West 10 Mile Road, Oak
Park, Michigan and
WHEREAS—The observance of "TAHARATH HAMISHPACHA,"
ritual purity of Jewish family life, is in accordance with our tradition,
one of the fundamentals of our religion;
We, call upon all Rabbis and Spiritual leaders of Greater Detroit
to preach on this Sabbath morning about the great importance, mean-
ing and significance of "TAHARATH HAMISHPACHA;" and to
appeal to all worshippers in their respective synagogues to give the
required aid and assistance to the "MIKVAH ISRAEL" association in
their sacred endeaveors and urge them to do all they possibly can to
crown the untiring efforts of "MIKVAH ISRAEL" with great success.

present Rabbi Yochanan Muffs as
guest speaker 9 p.m. Tuesday in

will be on "The Psychology of
the Prophet," re-
ceived his doc-
torate in Oriental
studies at the

Pennsylvania and
was ordained at
the Jewish Theo-
logical Seminary,
where he cur-

professor of biblical studies. He
is a member of the Council for
Religion in Higher Education, as-
sociated with the Danforth
Foundation.
He has lectured at the World
Congress for Jewish Studies in
Jerusalem and on university
campuses throughout the country.
Rabbi Muffs appeared at last
year's Adas Shalom Institute.

Livonia Congregation
to Set Up Library

The Jeannett Finkelstein Mem-
orial Fund, founded after her
death in October 1966, will be used
to start a library in the Livonia
Jewish Congregation. Funds also
will be used to purchase a film I
strip projector and screen for the
LJC Sunday school.
Mrs. Finkelstein was an active
member of the synagogue and its
sisterhood, and she served as a
substitute teacher for the Sunday
school.
Among the first books to be pur-
chased will be those geared to the
level of children for the benefit of
the Sunday school and youth group.
Adult books will later be made
available to the adult education
class, sisterhood, men's club and
general membership.
Families and individuals who
wish to donate to the library in
memory of, or in honor of, some-
one, may obtain information from
the synagogue office, 425-9370.

On Monday, Livonia Jewish
Congregation will hold its regular
adult education class in Hebrew
at 8. Rabbi Martin Gordon will
lead the discussion session at 8:45.
