Flint's Louis Kasle to Receive Award From Seminary Louis Kasle, a leader of Cong. highest awards presented by the Beth Israel for more than two Conservative movement, the Na- decades, will receive one of the tional Community Service Award, at the ninth annual dinner of the Jewish Theological Seminary in Miami Beach Feb. 26. Seminary President Dr. Louis Finkelstein will present the award, in the form of a bronze plaque. It is conferred upon a number of distinguished laymen throughout the United States and Canada in recognition of "dedication to the high principles of Judaism, self- less support of the programs of the Jewish Theological Seminary of America and exemplary leader- ship in endeavors to enrich the spiritual life of the community." U.S. Sen. Edward M. Kennedy, will be principal speaker at the event. Widely known for his philan- thropic activities in behalf of Jewish education, the state of Israel and many other vital causes, Kasle was a founder of Cong. Beth Israel's Men's Club and vice president from 1943 to 1945. He provided leadership of the congregation from 1954 to 1960. He has been president of the Zionist Organization of Flint; president of the Flint Jewish Community Council; chairman United Jewish A p p e a 1; State of Israel Bonds organization, and has been actively associated with Bnai Brith, American Jewish Con- gress, Joint Distribution Commit- tee, and many others. He has received citations and awards for outstanding service from the Flint Jewish Community Council, Big Wheel from State of Is?ael,....__State, of Israel Bonds.
