Narcotics and Teen Subject of Panel at Temple Emanu!-El

Temple Emanu-El's Couples
Club invites the public to a meeting
on "Narcotics and the Teen-Ager"
8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the tem-
ple.
Paricipants in the panel will be
Mrs. Seymour Lipten, sociologist
and member of the mass media
committee of the Jewish Commu-
nity Council; Charles E. Vail, fed-
eral narcotics agent; and Rabbi
Milton Rosenbaum of Emanu-El.
Also on the panel will be two
temple youth group members who
attend high school and a member
of the psychiatric staff of Lafay-

ette Clinic.
Moderator will be Mrs. Robert
Rosen, Oakland University lectur-
er.
According to the planners of the
program, the meeting has bee
called in response to "the alarm-
ing use and sale of narcotics among
our teen-agers. It is the hope of
the temple's couples club that the
situation can be discussed openly
and that both adults and teen-
agers can gain insight as to how
to cope with the problem."

David Brinkley Talk at Bnai Moshe Sunday

A personal report on world poli-
tics as viewed from Washington
will be given at Cong. Bnai Moshe
by NBC news commentator David
Brinkley 8:30 p.m. Sunday.
Brinkley, whose comments are
heard nightly by an estimated
20,000,000 people on the "Huntley-
Brinkley" show, is the first in a
series of lecturers, authors and
artists who will appear in the 1968
Bnai Moshe Town Hall series.
A question - answer period will
follow his talk, with written ques-
tions transmitted by a questioning
panel in behalf of the audience.
Brinkley will be introduced by
Rabbi Moses Lehrman. Norbert
Reinstein. Bnai Moshe Town Hall
chairman, will act as moderator.
Serving on the panel will be
Michael Grand, president of the
Bnai Moshe Young Marrieds,
Julius Reznik, congregation vice
president, and Mrs. Harry Markle,
past sisterhood president.

Bnai Israel Dinner
to Mark Dedication

Rabbi Israel Flam, former spiri-
tual leader of Cong. Bnai Israel,
will return from Scranton, Pa., for
the dedication dinner of Bnai
Israel 6:30 p.m. Jan. 21.
First organized in 1871, the
synagogue is under the presidency
of Ernest L. Citron. At the dinner,
past officers will be honored, and
an honorary lifetime membership
will go to the members and fami-
lies of members who have been ac-
tive in the past. A plaque with
their names will be erected.
The dinner, under the co-chair-
manship of Citron and Eugene
Kraus, was originally scheduled for
Dec. 10, but was postponed.

Rabbi Joins Consecration
of Frisco Catholic Bishop

SAN FRANCISCO (JTA) —
Rabbi Joseph A. Fine of this city
poineci with six Protestant minis-
ters and five prelates of the East-
ern Orthodox Church at the con-
secration here of Msgr. Mark J.
Harley as auxiliary bishop of the
Roman Catholic Church of San

Francisco.

The ceremony was the first of
its kind in which other than Roman
Catholic clergymen participated.
Bishop Harley expressed the hope
it would symbolize "the one-ness of
the human family."
