manpower shortage in the building
trades, the availability of mortgage
money for the construction of

tion builders in the metropolitan
area have experienced if there is
a normal flow of money into the
industry to meet expansion and
rising costs.
Son of the Nathan Silvermans —
(he for many years a production
builder in Detroit until his retire-
ment a few years ago) — Silver-
man started as a carpenter's ap-
prentice while attending Central
High School and the University of
Michigan, where he earned a de-
gree in civil engineering. He later
became a supervisor in the Holtz-
man and Silverman firm.
