President of the New York Board
of Rabbis for attending the funeral
rites of the late Francis Cardinal
Spellman here last week.
Rabbi Bernard Weinberger, pres-
ident of the alliance, called the
presence of Rabbi Edward T.

Stamps Show Israel's Animals

Israel's Philatelic Service has issued a series of stamps depicting
animals found in that country's nature reserves. Animals include
the gazelle dorcas, felis caracal and capra ibex. The stamps are
worth 17.4 cents (60 agorot), 5.2 cents and 3.5 cents. Orders may be
sent to the Ministry of Posts, Philatelic Service, Jerusalem, Israel.

Brandeis Award for '67 Goes to Baltimore Family

BALTIMORE (JTA) — The Louis accepted by LeRoy Hoffberger,
D. Brandeis Award for 1967 was president of the Hoffberger Foun-

of Baltimore "in recognition of of the Associated Jewish Charities
Grove in Israel to Honor their historic service to the cause and Welfare Fund drive.

Memory of Cardinal

NEW YORK (JTA) — Plans to
plant a grove of trees in Israel in
memory of Francis Cardinal Spell-
man, late archbishop of New York,
were announced by the Council of
Jewish Organizations in Civil Serv-
ice, which represents 80,000 mem-
bers in 42 organizations of Jewish
civil service workers.
Dr. Herman Mantell, council
president, said that while the late
Cardinal was "a prince of the
Catholic Church, the Jewish com-
munity of New York held him in
equally high esteem." lie added
that "we join our Catholic brethren
in mourning this great lose."
