Two Books on Yiddish
to Be Printed for Children

NEW YORK (JTA)—At least
two publications designed to ac-
quaint English-speaking Jewish
youth with the Yiddish language
and culture will be issued within
the next few months under the
sponsorship of the Aaron Fishman
Foundation for Yiddish Culture, it
was announced here. The organiza-
tion's goal is to foster knowledge
and appreciation of Yiddish cul-
ture among American Jewish
youth on and off the college cam-
pus and at younger age-levels.
Scheduled for publication soon,
the foundation stated, are a semi-
annual "News About Yiddish,"
summarizing information about the
situation among Jewish communi-
ties throughout the world, to be
issued by the World Congress for
Yiddish Culture, and an illustrated
songbook to be issued by the
Jewish Education Committee of
New York. Both works will be done
in Yiddish and English. This year's
songbook will be the second in a
series sponsored by the founda-
tion.

Tuesday defended the British-
sponsored UN Security Council
resolution on the Middle East
which was adopted unanimously
last month as a "balanced" docu-
ment which states the principles on
which a Middle East settlement

CHICAGO (JTA) — The Jewish
Vocational Service of Chicago is
offering a special student summer
placement service to college stu-
dents to help them find and get
jobs during the summer vacation
period. The job agency, an affili-
ate of the Jewish Federation of
Metropolitan Chicago, said particu-
lar attention would be paid to stu-
dents who must earn enough sum-
mer money to continue their col-
lege education.

Hussein's Intervention

KFAR ETZION (ZINS) — The
Jewish settlers who returned to lib-
erated Kfar Etzion after 19 years
of Jordanian occupation have de-
cided to destroy the military bar•
racks which were constructed by
the Arab Legion on the ruins of
the Jewish homes burnt down by
Arabs during the War of Libera-
tion in 1948. On the other hand, the
Jewish settlers have decided to
leaver remnant as a reminder of
the Jordanian occupation. One of
the present inhabitants proposed
the erection of a statue of King
Hussein whose intervention in the
Six-Day War has enabled Israel to
liberate Kfar Etzion. The statue
is to engraved with the following
inscription: "To Hussein, King of
Jordan — It is well that you inter-
vened."
